October storm scrambles presidential contest

(AP) ? Steering clear of the superstorm bearing down on the East Coast, Republican Mitt Romney returns to battleground Ohio to woo voters nine days before the election.

The GOP presidential hopeful had planned to campaign Sunday in Virginia, but will instead join running mate Paul Ryan in Ohio. The weather threat also left President Barack Obama's campaign schedule in flux.

The storm presents both sides with a most unlikely October surprise as polls continue to show an extraordinarily tight race.

Hurricane Sandy has each camp discarding carefully mapped-out itineraries as they work to maximize voter turnout while avoiding any appearance of putting politics ahead of public safety.

Romney campaigned Saturday in Florida while Obama worked to nail down New Hampshire's four electoral votes.

Obama plans to fly to Florida late Sunday.

Apple Fans Are Angry About The New iPads - Business Insider

The fanfare of Apple's (AAPL) announcement of two new iPads Tuesday quickly gave way to backlash from consumers who say the short life span of Apple products is becoming wearisome -- and expensive.

Apple surprised fans by unveiling a revamped, full-size iPad, just seven months after releasing the third-generation iPad. The new, full-sized tablet was overshadowed by the star of the event -- the iPad Mini -- but not overlooked by owners of what had been the most up-to-date iPad. Many were irked that they had just dropped $500 on what they thought was a cutting-edge tablet, only to watch it fall to near obsolescence Tuesday.

"I bought a iPad 3 in August and definitely feel cheated," Phillip Briseno posted on this newspaper's Facebook page.

Steve Higgs said that when he bought his third-generation iPad on Sunday, Apple should have told him "that in 48 hours it would be outdated."

iPad owners in the Bay Area weren't alone in their frustration. An unscientific flash poll of about 1,400 Apple users by CouponCodes4u, a coupon website that frequently polls consumers, found that the majority of owners of the suddenly old tablet -- 83 percent -- felt "cheated" by the iPad 4 announcement.

But on Wednesday, analysts had one message

for annoyed Apple customers: Get over it.

"I don't think they (Apple) owe people anything," said Stephen Baker, vice president of industry analysis at NPD Group. "If the iPad 3 worked for you great two days ago, it still works for you today, so I don't know why you would feel cheated."

Many Apple users have everything they need with the second- or third-generation iPads, some analysts said, and shouldn't feel compelled to buy an upgrade just because Apple has released one.

"Reasonable consumers can assess whether they even need the thing," said John Simpson, a consumer advocate at California-based nonprofit Consumer Watchdog. Simpson said he is the happy owner of the first-generation iPad.

But new Apple products, which are kept secret until the company unveils them with great celebration, are some of the sexiest for gadget-lovers to get their hands on. Apple has a loyal following of consumers who lust after its newest products and the emotional letdown of the short life of the third-generation tablet may have hit this group particularly hard, Simpson said.

For those trying to sell that tablet, the news was particularly disappointing -- its price is expected to plummet, and the iPad 4 will start at about $500, just what they paid for their new and now outdated device.

The fourth-generation iPad offers some nice perks. It will double the speed of the Wi-Fi connection and has iOS 6, which can't be installed on the original iPad. The upgrade also moves the iPad onto the Lightning connector, the smaller connection introduced on the iPhone 5 last month.

Apple had been upgrading tablets on a near-annual basis since launching the first iPad in early 2010, and the quick turnaround created some angst. With Tuesday's announcement shaking up Apple's routine, some wonder if the Cupertino company will move to twice-annual upgrades to minimize the pressure that surrounds its product launches.

"That's one of Apple's greatest challenges," said Tom Mainelli, a research director and consumer expert at research firm IDC. "There's this sense of disappointment if they don't knock your socks off with every announcement."

Others, though, say Apple wanted to move its tablet release into the fourth quarter -- just before the holidays and when most competitors are releasing their latest tablets. Microsoft will release the Surface tablet on Friday, the same day it launches Windows 8.

Whether Apple sticks with annual releases or begins upgrading the iPad more frequently, consumers don't need to keep up, analysts say, because they can hold onto tablets for a two or 2 1/2 years -- about the timeline for operating system upgrades.

The life span of tablets can also be expanded when families pass them down to younger generations. Apple product owner John Engel said he passes his iPhone and iPads down to his four kids. While he doesn't mind using the older products and still uses the original iPad for work and reading, he said he was disappointed that Apple would not upgrade it to iOS 6. To use devices effectively for a full two years, Engel said Apple should allow customers to update them equally -- whether it's the first or fourth generation.

Kanex Sydnee

For many, the $149 (direct) Kanex Sydnee will seem like a superfluous item?who needs to be able to charge three iPads or other tablets simultaneously? Well, as Apple made clear in its latest iPad event, tablets are finding their way into more and more classrooms and businesses. That means multiple iPads in a single location, all of which will need regular juicing.?For those applications, the Sydnee makes sense, with a clean design that makes it easy to cradle and charge up to four devices, eliminating the mess of cables and lack of available power outlets. And though it's designed with iDevices in mind, the bring-your-own-cable design means it'll work with just about any USB powered device.?It's a little pricey, but if organization is a key concern, the Sydnee is a good solution.

Like many Apple-centric accessories, the Sydnee, available in black or white, adheres to a clean and modern design aesthetic. The smooth lines and glossy finish are attractive, but the stand is constructed from all plastic, so there's a little flex and rattle when you're swapping tablets in and out, but overall, it feels sturdy. There's a small lip on the front of the stand and an interior space that's separated into two compartments by a clear plastic divider. The stand can easily cradle three iPads, even in moderately bulky cases, and there's some rubber padding in the cradle spots, but not enough to fully protect your iPad if the stand gets jostled.

Inline

Around back are four USB ports, each delivering 2.1 amps of power, which is sufficient for all iPads, iPhones, and pretty much any USB-powered tablet or smartphone. Kanex includes three 16-inch 30-pin Apple cables, which, of course, won't be compatible with the 4th-generation iPad or the iPad mini without adapters. Fortunately, since the cables aren't built in, you can bring your own cable or add an adapter as necessary. There's a plastic arm on the back of the stand to wrap lengthy cords around, while a slotted rubber piece up top lets you thread and organize all the cables. A power cord extends from the back of the stand, which occupy a single power outlet.

In my tests, the Sydnee was able to charge three iPads simultaneously, with the fourth USB port open for, say, an iPhone or another USB-powered device. It also worked with various Android powered tablets. You'll only be able to use the outermost tablet while docked, and only in landscape orientation, since there is no cutout for the power adapter on the front lip.

At $150, the Kanex Sydnee does seem somewhat overpriced since it's essentially a 4-port USB hub (which you can get for about $20 online), married to a simple plastic tablet cradle. Still, you get three 30-pin cables in the box, and if you have multiple iPads or other tablets in a single location, the Sydnee will make storing and charging them an easy and organized affair. Otherwise, the appeal is, admittedly, a bit limited.?

Human-like robots getting ready to save lives

17 hrs.

When future super-charged weather systems rip through town and leave the industrial complex spewing toxic waste, robots with super-human capabilities will be dispatched to the rescue. Today, we get our first look at what some of these humanoids will look like.

The Pentagon?s futuristic research arm unveiled the seven teams selected to compete in the top track of the DARPA Robotics Challenge. By the rules of the contest, the robots look as human as C-3P0 of ?Star Wars? fame, but are designed to be real-world emergency responders.

Each of the robots will need the smarts and dexterity to drive a vehicle such as a fire truck; run on rough, sloped terrain with loose dirt and rocks; move material such as a fallen tree limb to enter a doorway; climb a ladder; break through concrete; find and fix a leaky pipe; and replace a cooling pump.?

The seven teams will receive up to $4 million each to develop both the hardware and software for their proposed robots. Among the winners are Virginia Tech?s gladiator-look-alike THOR, the Tactical Hazardous Operations Robot, and Raytheon?s Stormtrooper-esque Guardian.

Other selected teams include Carnegie Mellon University?s CHIMP (CMU Highly Intelligent Mobile Platform); Drexel University?s Hubo; NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory?s RoboSimian; NASA Johnson Space Center; and Shaft Inc. Click here for Images of all the robots.?

In addition to the Track A teams, DARPA selected 11 Track B teams who will receive funding to write software for the Simulator, ?a cloud-based, real time, operator-interactive virtual test bed that uses physics based models of inertia, actuation, contact and environment dynamics,? the agency explains.

Track B and unfunded Track C teams, who are now free to register, will compete for access to one of a few handfuls of modified ATLAS robots developed for DARPA by Boston Dynamics. Check out the video clip below to see some of this robot?s capabilities.?

Interested in competing, perhaps even designing a robot that?s non-human like? Then consider registering for Track D?which is open to any team who wants to develop a complete system, both hardware and software, at their own expense.?

Romney distances himself from GOP candidate who said pregnancy from rape "something God intended"

Top Republicans were slow to embrace tea party-backed Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock after he ousted a longtime GOP senator from office. Though he eventually won their support? -- and money -- Mr. Mourdock could see both fade after telling a live television audience that when a woman becomes pregnant during a rape, "that's something God intended."

Mr. Mourdock, who's been locked in one of the country's most expensive and closely watched Senate races, was asked during the final minutes of a debate Tuesday night whether abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest.

"I struggled with it myself for a long time, but I came to realize that life is that gift from God. And, I think, even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen," Mr. Mourdock said.

Mr. Mourdock became the second GOP Senate candidate to find himself on the defensive over comments about rape and pregnancy. Missouri Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin said in August that women's bodies have ways of preventing pregnancy in cases of what he called "legitimate rape." Since his comment, Mr. Akin has repeatedly apologized but has refused to leave his race despite calls to do so by leaders of his own party, from GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on down.

It was not immediately clear what effect Mr. Mourdock's comments might have during the final two weeks in the increasingly tight race against Democratic challenger Rep. Joe Donnelly. But they could prove problematic. Mr. Romney distanced himself from Mr. Mourdock on Tuesday night, a day after a television ad featuring the former Massachusetts governor supporting the GOP Senate candidate began airing in Indiana.

"Gov. Romney disagrees with Richard Mourdock's comments, and they do not reflect his views," Mr. Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in an email to The Associated Press. Romney aides would not say whether the ad would be pulled and if the Republican presidential nominee would continue to support Mr. Mourdock's Senate bid.

Other Republicans did not immediately weigh in. Indiana Republican Party spokesman Pete Seat referred comment to the Mourdock campaign. A spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee did not immediately return a request for comment Tuesday night.

National Democrats quickly picked up on Mr. Mourdock's statement and used it as an opportunity to paint him as an extreme candidate, calling him a tea party "zealot." DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz described Mr. Mourdock's comments as "outrageous and demeaning to women" and called on Mr. Romney to take his pro-Mourdock ad off the air.

Mr. Mourdock further explained Tuesday night after the debate that he did not believe God intended the rape, but that God is the only one who can create life.

"Are you trying to suggest somehow that God preordained rape, no I don't think that," Mr. Mourdock said. "Anyone who would suggest that is just sick and twisted. No, that's not even close to what I said."

In response, Mr. Donnelly said after the debate in southern Indiana that he doesn't believe "my God, or any God, would intend that to happen."

Mr. Mourdock, who ran unsuccessfully for Congress three times before becoming state treasurer, became one of the tea party's biggest winners of the 2012 primary season when he knocked off veteran Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar in a brutal campaign. Initially, national Republicans stayed out of the Indiana race because the race had appeared to be a likely win for the GOP.

But as the race grew tighter in recent months, Mr. Mourdock changed his tune and started trying to woo moderate voters. At the same time, top Republicans began stumping for Mr. Mourdock around the state in a push to break open the high-stakes Senate race. Republicans need to gain three seats, or four if President Barack Obama wins re-election, and seats that were predicted to remain or turn Republican have grown uncertain.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell came to Indianapolis for a fundraiser Monday, and Arizona Sen. John McCain and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham campaigned for Mr. Mourdock last week. New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte is due in the state Wednesday.

Mr. Romney's coattails carry special significance in conservative Indiana, where Mr. Mourdock has underperformed Mr. Romney by 12 points in most public polls. Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS also has bought another $1-million of airtime in Indiana, making his group the biggest player in Indiana's Senate race. A message left for Crossroads GPS spokesman Nate Hodson was not immediately returned.

Mr.Donnelly, a moderate Democrat who opposes abortions, has spent much of his campaign highlighting Mr. Mourdock's tea party ties and trying to accuse him of being too extreme even for conservative Indiana. Democratic groups have bought another $1.6-million of airtime for Mr. Donnelly ads this week.

The Company's third quarter and year-to-date fiscal 2012 consolidated statements of comprehensive income and margin analyses are attached as Schedule I. The following table sets forth, for the periods indicated, certain items included in the Company's consolidated statements of comprehensive income (in thousands, except per share data and percentages):

Third Quarter Fiscal 2012 Results and Business Review

Comparable Net Bakery-Cafe Sales Growth

In the third quarter fiscal 2012, Company-owned comparable net bakery-cafe sales increased 6.2%, franchise-operated comparable net bakery-cafe sales increased 5.5%, and system-wide comparable net bakery-cafe sales increased 5.8% compared to the comparable period in fiscal 2011.

The Company-owned comparable net bakery-cafe sales increase of 6.2% in the third quarter fiscal 2012 was comprised of year-over-year transaction growth of 0.6% and average check growth of 5.6%. Average check growth was comprised of retail price increases of approximately 3.0% and positive mix impact of approximately 2.6%. A schedule of comparable net bakery-cafe sales information is attached as Schedule III.

Operating Margin

In the third quarter fiscal 2012, the Company generated operating margin improvement of approximately 80 basis points compared to the third quarter fiscal 2011. This increase was driven primarily by higher bakery-cafe margins, partially offset by lower margins from fresh dough and other product sales to franchisees. The increase in bakery-cafe margins was driven primarily by sales leverage, while the decline in margins from fresh dough and other product sales to franchisees resulted primarily from year-over-year wheat price inflation and higher year-over-year zero margin produce sales to franchisees.

New Unit Development and AWS

During the third quarter fiscal 2012, the Company opened 17 new bakery-cafes and its franchisees opened 19 new bakery-cafes. As a result, there were 1,625 bakery-cafes open system-wide as of September 25, 2012.

Average weekly sales ("AWS") for Company-owned new units year-to-date through the third quarter fiscal 2012 were $47,438 compared to $41,470 in the same period of fiscal 2011. AWS for franchise-operated new units year-to-date through the third quarter fiscal 2012 were $47,680 compared to $41,864 in the same period of fiscal 2011. A schedule of the third quarter and year-to-date fiscal 2012 AWS is attached as Schedule II.

Operating Margin Improvement

The Company's fiscal 2013 EPS target assumes its fiscal 2013 operating margin range will be flat to 50 basis points of improvement as compared to the midpoint of fiscal 2012 targeted operating margin. This target includes a significant step up in investments to provide greater access for customers, increased operational capabilities, and improvement to the Company's core enterprise systems.

New Unit Development and AWS

The Company's fiscal 2013 EPS target assumes approximately 115-120 system-wide new unit openings. The average weekly net sales performance for new Company-owned units is targeted at $40,000 to $42,000.

(AP) ? The latest James Bond movie is getting its world premiere in London, with Prince Charles on hand to give it a royal seal of approval.

Charles and his wife Camilla are due to attend the screening at the Royal Albert Hall, along with stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and Javier Bardem.

Proceeds from Tuesday's royal gala are going to charities that help members of Britain's intelligence services.

"Skyfall" is the 23rd official Bond film and Craig's third outing as the suave superspy. Dench plays spy chief M, battling a crisis with roots in her past, and Bardem is a villain bent on revenge.

Some critics are hailing the Sam Mendes-directed film as the best Bond in years.

"Skyfall" opens in Britain on Friday and in the U.S. Nov. 9.

Forget the Data, Chinese GDP Is Actually Near ... - Yahoo! Finance

A familiar retort that has been used by both sides during the election season is that ''the math just doesn't add up'' when challenging the fiscal reality or financial feasibility of a particular candidate's claim or plan.

And so it is with Gordon Chang, author of The Coming Collapse of China and contributor to Forbes Magazine, whenever he looks at China's official GDP results, in which the most recent data showed Q3 GDP rising 7.4%, or today's HSBC Flash PMI data which rose to a 3-month high of 49.1. While still below 50, and technically reflecting contraction, the word from the mainland is one of encouragement and that worst is over.

''It just doesn't make sense," Chang says in the attached video, claiming that the true number is probably zero or 1%. "This number is not consistent with what we know about the Chinese economy."

Not only does he say that GDP growth of that magnitude would coincide with comparable increases in electricity consumption, he says it also doesn't jibe with a report that showed a 3% decline in wholesale and seems out of whack with with inflation that's slipped below 2%.

"It doesn't compute," Chang says, arguing that the average monthly increase in electricity production was 2.1%, adding that it historically outpaces GDP and has been among the most reliable economic barometers, too.

Another area of concern for Chang is the potential for unrest. While the saga surrounding workers at the Foxconn factories where Apple gadgets are made has been well covered, Chang says it barely touches on what is happening on a broader scale.

"Across Chinese society, the one factor that people always talk about is the anger," he says. But the reality is that the central government in Beijing no longer produces statistics on uprisings and protests, which by his estimates are now probably occurring at a rate that is ''north of 200,000 per year."

And finally, he's awaiting the results of China's once-a-decade process of selecting new leadership when the 18th Communist Party Congress begins on November 8. From Chang's perspective, the country known for its ironclad one party rule could be entering what's locally referred to as a period of "two suns in the sky." By this he means a new leader may have to share the spotlight with current President Hu Jintao, who is reputed to want to linger in the limelight after his term has officially ended. In addition, he says former President Jiang Zemin may even resurface as a "third sun," further complicating any transition and muddying the authority and message of the new leader.

Swedish 'Stonehenge' may predate English site

A 5,500-year-old tomb possibly belonging to a Stone Age chieftain has been unearthed at a megalithic monument in the shape of a ship called the Ale's Stenar (Ale's Stones). The tomb, in Sweden, was likely robbed of stones to build the Viking-era ship monument.

"We found traces ? mostly imprints ? of large boulders," said lead archaeologist Bengst S?derberg of the Swedish National Heritage Board. "So my conviction is that some of the stones at least, they are standing on the ship setting."

Perched on a seaside cliff in the village of K?seberga stands the Ales Stenar, also called Ale's Stones, 59 massive boulders arranged in the 220-foot (67-meter)-long outline of a ship. Most researchers believe the 1,400-year-old ship structure is a burial monument built toward the end of Sweden's Iron Age. Local legend has it that the mythic King Ale lies beneath the site.

The Ales Stenar megaliths, some of which weigh as much as 4,000 pounds (1,800 kilograms), have distinctive cut marks similar to ones found at Stone Age sites. So researchers wondered whether the stones were stolen from an even older monument, S?derberg told LiveScience. [ See Photos of Ale's Stones & Tomb ]

In 2006, archaeologists used magnetic sensors and radar to map the area's underground terrain and found a larger circular structure about 541 feet (165 m) in diameter, with a 65-foot by 25-foot rectangle at its heart.

Last week, the team finally dug a small trench through the center of the circle and unearthed the imprints of giant boulders that had been removed long ago. Though the team didn't find a skeleton, the imprints suggested the site was a Neolithic burial chamber called a dolmen ? several upright stones with a horizontal boulder on top in which a body would be placed.

"All of the stones had been taken away. And I would say, most probably they are standing 40 meters away from the dolmen where the ship setting is situated," S?derberg said.

Based on the layout, the dolmen may be up to 5,500 years old ? possibly older than Stonehenge. The large burial chamber likely belonged to a local chieftain or the head of a clan during the Neolithic Era, he said. Because there was very little evidence from the outer ring, the researchers aren?t yet sure what it was used for or whether it?s as old as the dolmen.

Thousands of dolmen sites are scattered throughout Scandinavia, though later civilizations stole many of the boulders to build churches and other structures, he said.

The giant rock monuments suggest that even our Stone Age ancestors had a sense of posterity and permanence, said Magnus Andersson of the Swedish National Heritage Board in an email.

The new tomb also shows that this particular spot, with its dramatic cliffs overlooking the Baltic Sea, has inspired people in many different ages, he said.

"The scenic place on the ridge must have attracted people in all times," he said. "It shows that people over a long period build their monuments and perform their ceremonies on the same sites.?

?Beetlejuice? sparks? Meteor shower brings 'shooting stars' and 'earthgrazers'

The increasing intensity of the annual Orionid meteor shower will be on full display Saturday night and Sunday morning as most of the US faces a cold, clear, moonless night ? the perfect celestial screen.

Projected clear skies and low moonlight across much of the country Saturday night and Sunday morning will help fans of celestial phenomena witness a peak of whizzing visitors across the sky as part of the annual Orionid meteor shower.

Sky gazers can expect as many as 60 meteors an hour as the earth crashes into icy remnants abandoned by Halley?s Comet when it shot by the planet in 1986. The meteor shower will originate near the orange-glowing Betelgeuse star that makes up the right shoulder of Orion (The Hunter), most easily found by his conspicuous belt of stars.

The objects are boulders of ice and rock breaking into the atmosphere at about 148,000 miles per hour. Most sizzle and burn, creating ?shooting stars? and even ?earthgrazers? that span the sky. Larger chunks may actually explode into fireballs loud enough to hear down here on earth.

(A large chunk of asteroid that entered the atmosphere and exploded just off the coast of northern California on Wednesday, in some cases shaking houses, was likely not part of the Orionids, NASA says.)

According to Weather.com, large sections of the Atlantic, the South, the Midwest, and Coastal West are likely to see crystal clear skies overnight. The moon has just begun to wax, meaning moonlight interference will be low.

Philosophers have long pondered the stars, but the Orionids usually inspire poetics even among the country?s most hardened space scientists. (For others who want to gush or chat, NASA will have its experts on hand starting Saturday night at this link.)

?The Orionid meteor shower isn?t the strongest, but it?s one of the most beautiful showers of the year,? says Bill Cooke, head of NASA?s Meteoroid Environment Office.

Tony Phillips, who blogs at spaceweather.com, explains why in a NASA post.

?The shower is framed by some of the brightest stars and planets in the heavens,? he writes. ?Constellations such as Taurus, Gemini, and Orion provide a glittering backdrop for the display. But that?s not all. This year, Venus and Jupiter have moved into position with Sirius, the Dog Star, to form a bright triangle in the eastern pre-dawn sky. On the morning of Oct 21st, blazing pieces of Halley?s Comet will cut straight through the heart of this celestial triad.?

NASA has a few suggestions for how to optimize the show. The best display is likely to be two hours before sunrise, when Orion will be straight overhead. The meteors will burst from near Betelgeuse, but will spray across the entire sky. And remember: don?t blink.

?Be prepared for speed,? says Mr. Cooke, according to NASA. ?Only the November Leonids are faster.?

It is easy to 'stumble upon' a password if it is weak. You should have a password that is hard to be cracked and easy to remember. There are tools like Windows password reset tool and other recovery solutions to help in case you forget your password.

Train and educate users

Train users on ways to create a strong password. Advise them on how different characters can be made use of in a password. They should be aware that passwords should not be written down on a piece of paper or on monitor (if there are exceptions, the list or the copy should be stored in a locked drawer or safe). Direct them against sharing passwords with co- workers. In case they forget their passwords, recovery and reset tools like Windows password reset tool can be made use of.

For many accounts, using the same password is to be steered away from. Sharing accounts is also to be avoided. Passwords can be guessed by software and humans. Make the users aware of different threats like dictionary attacks, brute force, word substitution attacks etc.

Password policy

Password policy should be made known to all the users.

? Maximum password age should be mentioned to the users. If it is required that you change the password periodically for security purposes, communicate the maximum number of days the password can be used, so that it can be changed on time.

? Users should be aware that there are certain number of unique passwords to be used before any of them can be reused. It is typically twenty five passwords. On windows, you can go for the option 'enforce password history' in order for the system to display the passwords already made use of.

? Minimum password length should be made known. It is usually eight characters long. This is to ensure that there are no blank passwords created by employees. Long passwords are known to be stronger than the short ones.

? Users should be taught how to modify or change a password when required.

Password retrieval and reset

Even though you follow all the right rules, there is always a risk of forgetting the password. In case of losing a password, you can use Windows password reset tool or others to retrieve or reset it. The software can be loaded into an external storage device through which the system can be booted to recover the password.

There are simple memory tricks to remember a password. For instance, you can type the letters that are one line up or down in the key boards to substitute the letter sequence that actually makes a sensible word. Also, account lockout threshold, i.e., the number of times a password can be attempted, should be applied carefully keeping into consideration all the elements that can affect it.

Follow good practices in password management to make password systems strong across an organization. They should be also followed in order to avoid external threats to encrypted data. You can save a lot of money by improving your IT infrastructure (by including tools like Windows password reset tool), updating to new technology and protecting key data.

Mixpanel Launches Engage, Allowing Businesses To Send Analytics-Driven Messages To Their Customers

mixpanel-logoMixpanel, an analytics startup that was incubated by Y Combinator and backed by Andreessen Horowitz (among others), is announcing a new product called Engage, which co-founder Suhail Doshi described as a way for businesses to actually do something with the data that they're collecting. Taking action on data, specifically by using it to deliver personalized messages to customers, is something promised by other analytics companies (though not necessarily Mixpanel's direct competitors). For example, it's one of the features offered with Woopra's real-time analytics, and Optimizely CEO Dan Siroker has told me that his future plans include more segmentation and personalization.?For the most part, however, Doshi said most companies still deliver the same communication to all of their customers.

aerobraking impeller: Stress Management For Self-Improvement ...

Stress has always been a part of our daily lives. We often find ways to deal it with but can become unbearable when you?re tightly under its grip. The important part here is to take control of stress before it ends up controlling you ? which is to say that you will be making a lot of mistakes that will take quite a lot of time and effort to fix. This is where stress management comes in.

Why Get Rid Of Stress

We can never deny the fact that stress can be a big hindrance in everything you plan to do with your life. It can get in the way of business, career, or even with your family and friends. If you give in to the irritation and anger that is often the result of stress, you are bound to make wrong decisions and plenty of mistakes that will bring you down.

You can lose your job, do badly in a business deal, or even make enemies left and right when you let your stress control you. Learn to control stress and get rid of it every time it crops up for self-improvement.

Find The Source Of Your Stress

Knowing the source of your stress gives you plenty of options to counter it. If your stress stems from overwork, then take some time off from your busy schedule to relax. The home can also become a stressful environment, especially when it?s disorganized. If you think that the design of the interior is giving you problems, then take some time to rearrange the furniture around or add some home d?cor to make it comfortable to look at. Once you are able to determine the problem then you can take the necessary steps to correct it.

Learn To Relax Once In A While

Everyone would agree that work, or the demands of work, is mostly the cause of stress. If you think that you have that wild look in your eyes every time your boss asks you to do something, then you better ask for a vacation leave to relax yourself outside your work area before it leads you into trouble.

Take some time off from your busy schedule and visit the local spa. Pamper yourself by indulging in a full-body massage or get an aromatherapy session going on to help you relax. You can always take a vacation if you really want to get the thoughts of work out of your system, but a massage will do just fine if you can?t afford to be absent from it.

Find The Child Within You

Kids are known to be stress-free. Even if you scold them or force them to eat vegetables, you will never see them suffer from stress. The reason here is with their mindset to enjoy life as they see fit. You can take your cue from them and enjoy life more.

Find your inner child and just play. You can grab your Playstation out of the cabinet and bring out the games you usually play during your free time. Another idea is to listen to your favorite music or read some comics on the Internet. You can even play online games if you like just to get your mind off your work.

Keep in mind that the gist of stress management is not the methods you take for getting stress out of your system. The idea here is to learn how to divert your mind from the problems that causes stress to give yourself time to relax and face the problem with a clear mind.
