Customers and associates from Kroger?s Atlanta Division, including Forsyth County, raised $736,000 for breast cancer awareness, treatment and research from Sept. 30-Oct. 27.

More than $450,000 was raised for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and more than $286,000 for Kroger?s ?Giving Hope a Hand? campaign, an announcement said.

?With the help of our generous customers and associates, we are one step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer,? said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger?s Atlanta Division, in the statement. ?These donations reflect our community?s drive and dedication toward helping thousands of women across the country and around the world defeat this deadly disease.?

As part of Kroger?s ?Giving Hope a Hand? campaign, two Atlanta Division associates ? and breast cancer survivors ? were honored on national-brand products and in-store promotional materials. Annette Teagle of Newnan, Ga., appeared on Pepsi standees at select Kroger stores, and Gwen Williams of Dublin, Ga., was featured on Pillsbury Toaster Strudel packages, as well as a promotional billboard in metro Atlanta.

Annually, thousands of Kroger associates join the fight against breast cancer through various community events. Kroger?s ?Giving Hope a Hand? campaign has raised more than $20 million since its 2006 inception.?
